The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine released a report called Transforming the Financing of Early Care and Education. The 315 page document highlights the lack of access to high-quality early care and education for children in the United States, and proposes implementing a new financing structure to ensure that all children have the opportunity to access affordable education. The authors articulate their vision for a structure that will support the total cost of a high-quality ECE system. They hope the report will stimulate policy makers, practitioners, leaders, and all other ECE stakeholders to make the commitment to plan and implement the transformed and effective financing structure that we recommend here.

The Results First Clearinghouse Database is an online resource that brings together information on the effectiveness of social policy programs from nine national clearinghouses. It applies color-coding to the clearinghouses’ distinct rating systems, creating a common language that enables users to quickly see where each program falls on a spectrum from negative impact to positive impact. As such, this database can help users easily access and understand the evidence base for a variety of programs.
The Department of Health and Human Services launched the Home Visiting Evidence of Effectiveness (HomVEE) review to conduct a thorough and transparent review of early childhood home visiting models. HomVEE provides an assessment of the evidence of effectiveness for early childhood home visiting models that serve families with pregnant women and children from birth to kindergarten entry (that is, up through age 5). This site contains links to models, model descriptions and overviews of the results. The results include evidence of model effectiveness, a count of manuscripts from well-designed studies, and a summary of findings by outcome domain.
